catching up ...

It's been more than a month since our last post, so ... here's trying to sum up all that's been going on.

On October 1, Nick's dad, Bob, passed away. Bob had a successful heart transplant in 2003 and earlier this year his heart began to fail ... a memorial service and celebration of life was held in his honor on October 9. Thank you to everyone for your support, kind words, thoughts, cards and flowers. You will be missed by all of us Grampa Bob ...

Now I'll try to catch up where we left off ... in the end of September, our friends Nick & Alicia Moser had a housewarming party at their new digs. It was great to catch up with our friends! And Colson hung out with his pals too :)

Here's Colson with Crystal & Zach. The guys (Nick, Adam & Matt) with their kiddos (Colson, Taylor & Ryan). And the munchkins messin around.

Caleb's First Birthday

Our good friends Patty & Caleb had a birthday party for their son Caleb who turned 1 year old! We joined them for the celebration :) There was a playground there too, so we decided to let Colson try out the swings - he loved it! Was even holding on :) [this is when I had another "I can't believe he's growing up so fast moment." sigh.]

SF Aquarium

A few weeks back Nick's cousin Kristin & her beau David came out to visit SF from North Carolina. We went to meet them at the Aquarium on Pier 39 and had lunch after. Colson was fascinated by all the fish and other sea creatures at the aquarium -he even got to pet a sea cucumber ;)

half birthday and teeth!

Colson turned 6 months old on September 10! Too bad he couldn't have any birthday cake yet ... At his 6 month check-up he weighed in at 20lbs and 1/2 an ounce, still in the 90 percentile and 27.5" tall, still in the 90 percentile and his head size is still in the 50 percentile. We've been continuing with the solids - so far he's had rice cereal, banana, avocado, and sweet potatoes today. And just Friday one of his lower teeth began to come in. It was so sharp - poor guy was miserable that day.

too cool

Nick's mom went to Florida earlier in August and brought this shirt back for Colson ... it's labeled 18 months! I thought his growth was starting to slow down seeing as he spent a good 4-5 weeks in the 18 pound range. Before that I was weighing him every week and he was gaining a pound about every couple of weeks. Well, he's now 20 pounds -- so he flew through 19 and has broken through 20. I never thought that the 12 month clothes we got as gifts earlier would fit him now!

houseboats

Ok so I think we are caught up on the posts ... we just got back from a trip to lake Shasta with my parents, brother, and a couple of my aunts & uncles. We cruised the lake on a houseboat and enjoyed some sun, swimming and good food!

M-I-C, K-E-Y, M-O-U-S-E

We were at Nick's grandmas' house and his sister Anna dug up some old toys and a pair of mouse ears! This hat is OG - circa ... I'm not even sure! 50s/60s era ... it has "Street" embroidered on the back of it. One day Colson we'll take you to Disneyland! My parents' beach house is pretty close to Disneyland, so Colson might just have to get a season pass!

"Welcome Theta Sisters"

A few of the gals from Theta got together a couple weekends back. Thanks to Mindy's parents who graciously hosted with swimming & BBQ. Mindy's mom is so cute - they live in a gated community so at the gate callbox there was a sign that read: Welcome Theta Sisters.

Group pic: Patty & Caleb, Alison & Emma, Callisa & Maddy & Brielle, Mindy, (my lil sis!) Lynette, (my big sis) Ann Marie, Emily, me & Colson. It was great to see everyone and catch up and we vowed to do it more often!

starting solids!

A few days shy of his 5-month birthday, we gave Colson a little bit of rice cereal and here are the pics ... took a long time to get just maybe half of the food actually in him :) He's way better at spoon-feeding now! Although it's just for practice and fun. We've also given him a little bit of banana and let him taste the juice from different fruits -- he's in love with watermelon! It's a fun bright color and he loves the juice from it.
