Colson & Monroe

We met Justin & Julie through our mutual friends Crystal & Conor ... Justin & Julie had their daughter Monroe just 3 weeks after Colson at the same hospital. In fact, we found out later that Justin & Julie were actually touring Labor&Delivery on the same day Colson was born -- they cruised right by our room on the tour!

Colson and I try to get together with Julie and Monroe a few times a week for playdates ;)

These pictures are deceiving because it is totally opposite of what actually happens. Really Monroe is totally chill and calm and Colson is screaming his head off! This was after a long day at arden fair where Colson was fussy but Monroe was an angel, and now Colson is happy that we're home ... Monroe is pissed that we left Nordstrom ;)

visit from Mah-yay and Kong

Mah-yay is Cambodian for grandmother and Kong is Chinese for grandfather -- since I am both Cambodian and Chinese, these are what my parents want Colson to call them ... growing up it was so confusing because we use Cambodian titles for aunts/uncles/cousins on my mom's side and on my dad's side we use the Chinese titles ...

This was their third time up to Sacramento since he was born and he is so different already!

growing so fast!

Colson had his 2 month check-up on May 11th ... he weighed in at a whopping 14lbs9oz and measured 24" long -- the doctor says he is in the 95th percentile for weight among other boys his age and in the 90th percentile for length/height -- wow! I aslo think he has a huge head, but apparently, he's exactly average -- 50th percentile for head size -- LOL!

He also had his 2 month vaccinations -- 3 shots --- ouch!! two shots in one thigh and one in the other -- i couldn't even watch :( I almost cried myself ... but he did so good. Only cried briefly when they stuck the needle in, then was just a bit fussy the rest of that day ... was back to normal by Tuesday

the little munchkin is so active -- he never sits still! he's working on lifting his head ... still not sleeping very long stretches at night -- we're working on that ;)

let's see ... what else? i had my first mother's day! Colson got me a great card and we went on a shopping trip for whatever mom wanted on saturday, the day before ... we had lunch with Nick's mom and sister on Mother's day and we're doing a late mother's day with my mom this weekend.

my cousin Vee was working on a project in Sonora a couple weeks ago -- so he stopped by for dinner and a visit with the little guy :)

colson can't quite focus on all the hanging toys yet, but it keeps him occupied for maybe 5 or 10 minutes at a time! that how we spend our days at home: a little play gym, then some tummy time, then maybe the swing or bouncer seat, and sometimes the baby bjorn for chores around the house ... eat ... nap ... repeat!
