June & July Birthdays ...
Every month we usually get together with Nick's dad's family to celebrate birthdays for that month ... this time we all went to Nick's grandma's house (GP = Grandma Patty).

Nick's Birthday
First Father's Day
We had a nice breakfast at home: omelettes, bagels, french toast and juicy watermelon & canteloupe - yum!
Then, we spent father's day afternoon at Nick's sister's house and Nick's dad and step-mom came over for a BBQ lunch.

We sent my dad a card and got him a sun shade canopy to use at the beach this summer ... we'll be going to southern california to see my parents in July, so we'll have a make-up celebration later :)

updates
Colson is going through so many developmental and personality changes right now! It's such a fun time. He's smiling and laughing (a little, he's had full blown giggles a few times), his neck control is getting better but he just moves around so much when you're holding him -- trying to look at everyone and everything!
He's 3 1/2 months old now ... at the beginning of three months he rolled from his tummy to his back on one side and he can also go form tummy to back on the other; except he totally has to be in the mood to do it :) He is grabbing at batting at the toys in his little toy jungle gym. He has also recently discovered his hands - and thumb! He is totally a thumb sucker ... he'll go for his fingers and try to get as many as he can in in his mouth, but when he finally finds his thumb, he just goes to town! He hasn't figured out that he can curl his other fingers down, so when he sucks his thumb he has all the other fingers sticking straight up in his face ;)
Just a couple days ago, he also discovered that it is fun to stick his toys in his mouth ... sometimes I think he's teething because he's all drooly and is easily irritable, but it is a little early for it. We have a teething ring chilling in the fridge just in case.
Let see ... more udpates: a few nights ago, I met some girlfriends for dinner and Nick was on daddy-day-care duty. Well a couple hours into the night Nick called and asked if I was coming home soon - I was actually already on my way. I had left a couple bottles for Colson in the fridge, but he was not having any of it. Anytime Nick brought the bottle to his lips, he would wail ... we first introduced the bottle when he was 5 weeks old. Then were pretty good about giving him one bottle every night or every other night. Well a couple weeks had gone by since he had last had a bottle and it seems like he's developed a strong preference for nursing and is now refusing the bottle. We tried again the next 2 days after, but same result ... this is something we are definitely working on right now. I also bought an infant sippy cup (soft sippy spout and spill-proof) on the advice of other moms with the same problem. We haven't tried it yet - keep your fingers crossed ...
Other than that, he is at a pretty fun age and I hear it's keeps getting more enjoyable as they are able to be more independent and discover their surroundings. He is a great baby and we're able to take him on errands (costco, grocery store, MALL!) and on walks (Land Park, sacramento river levee). He loves being in the baby bjorn more than the stroller because he can look around more in the bjorn. That might change since he is just about big enough to sit in the stroller himself without snapping the entire infant carseat onto the stroller.
Actually we just bought a new carseat because he is half an inch away from outgrowing his infant seat! He already had his 4 month appt early since we are going to be out of town during the later appointment. That meant another round of immunization shots (ouch! but mommy did way better this time that at the 2 month shots). And he's weighing in at 17lbs 6 oz (still 95th percentile) and measuring 25.5 inches long (still 90th percentile) and his head curcumference is 16.5 inches (still only 50th percentile - LOL!).
I can't believe how fast our little boy is growing up :( I am already imagining the day he goes off to college -- geez ...

Family Time
This past weekend my aunt Abby & uncle Vee came up to visit with the son Brandon & daughter Adora (one of our ring bearers and one of our flo
wer girls from our wedding). My uncle Tom & his wife Leah also came up with them. Hanging out with the fam is always a good time - with lots of food and games and sports talk :)

Visit with Patty & Caleb
On June 2nd my friend Patty came over with her son Caleb -- Caleb is 9 months :) Nick is always joking that we will use Caleb as a measuring post for Colson's athletic abilities - LOL! Caleb's parents - Patty & Joe went to UC Davis with me and they are both super tall and super athletic -- so Caleb is destined to be good at sports :)
time flies!
Colson is almost 13 weeks old now ... and my maternity leave is half over. I'll be going back to work September 16th, when Colson is 6 months old ... I can't believe how fast time has passed!
